This Lesser Yellowlegs at Meare Heath was thankfully still present after a short spell away. Identified by Andy Slade earlier in the week, it showed only at great distance at the rear of Meare Heath. On my original photos you can barely make out a bird in the image - these are extreme crops!

Lots of migrants on Brean Down this morning, including seven Grasshopper Warblers. The bird song above was recorded from Brean Down this morning. Compare and contrast if you wish to the Savis' Warbler recorded last year on the Somerset Levels. The Skylark (top) was from a drive past on the levels and the Common Redpoll was also from Brean Down.

The long-staying Slimbridge Lesser Scaup. About the same distance I saw it last time, but lovely, sunny, hot, glorious weather!

White-fronted Goose at Torr Reservoir. Just popped in on passing to look for this, so sadly I have no idea what was present on the reservoir proper.

The long-staying Slimbridge Lesser Scaup. Much closer than I saw it last time, but terrible, murky, rainy, horrible weather!

I realised yesterday that my parents had Brambling coming down to their garden feeders. When announcing surprise, they informed me that they'd been present for ages! Attempts at photos today were marred by a Black Stork. It was difficult sitting in a hide watching garden birds knowing that a rarity might be hanging out on the levels.
