December 2011

31 December 2011

A nice end to the year and hopfully a good start to the new one - this Lesser Yellowlegs on the Brue Estuary showed well at times. It favoured the pools but frequently flew back onto the river.

This Great Northern Diver at Cheddar Reservoir showed extremely well today - though light was average at best. Also the Snow Bunting on Burnham beach was still there.

21 December 2011

This Snow Bunting on Burnham beach has been present since Saturday. It has developed an amazing reaction to dogs, where it totally ignores them unless the dog is literally about to stand on it, and it seems to work a treat. The light was appauling today, so high ISO's and slow shutter speeds were called for.

18 December 2011

Kittiwake on Berrow Beach. We don't often get to there these very well - usually they're miles out at sea. This one showed well enough to show off it's BTO ring!

10-11 December 2011

The drake Ring-necked Duck (top) at Weston-super-Mare STW has a most un-RND-like head shape. The Black Redstart was at Brean.
