January 2010

30 January 2010

Last nights full moon was quite impressive. Apparently there were some planets or something visible too, but I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to space and stuff. Back to more familiar things, the Green-winged Teal was back on the Axe Estuary today,

23 January 2010

A trip to the Huntspill Sluice for Water Pipits, of which there were some, but not close enough to photograph, but this Skylark was. Another attempt at photographing one or two of the thousands of thrushes in the sea buckthorn at Berrow was mildly successful with some Blackcaps and Fieldfare.

14 January 2010

Great Bustard Yellow 22 at Brean and a stupid Red-crested Pochard at Apex.

9 January 2010

Some photos from Shapwick Heath where most birds were depressingly desperate in this cold weather. Cattle Egret, Cetti's Warbler, Fieldfare, Fox, Redwing, Stonechat and Water Rail. The Stonechat was drinking from an unfrozen bit of the drain, the Water Rails were just everywhere, right out in the open!

2 January 2010

A quick chance to photograph one of the Black-necked Grebes at Cheddar Reservoir. A Smew was also present but stayed right out in the middle.
