November 2008

23 November 2008

Just a quick stroll around Cheddar Reservoir this afternoon where this Common Scoter was still present from the previous day. It was distant, but the light was good.

We all hoped it would be this autumn - and it was! Finally, an American passerine in Somerset. This Dark-eyed Junco delighted all observers' at East Coker. The owners' of the house were absolute heroes - a big and sincere thank you.

...and better views of the three Berrow Whooper Swans today but only just got a chance to upload these images as I got a bit distracted by a certain grey sparrow. Oh, yes, and a cracking Reed Bunting (lower).

These Purple Sandpipers are back at Anchor Head, Weston-super-Mare where they spend the winter. It's best at high tide.

2 November 2008

These three Whooper Swans wandered around a field at Berrow, spending quite some time out of sight.
